North Cyprus enjoys some of the warmest weather in the Mediterranean, and between 300 – 340 days of sunshine per year, due to its position further south than the other Mediterranean countries. This makes North Cyprus popular for visitors all the year-round.
Seasons in North Cyprus
There are four distinct seasons in North Cyprus. The North Cyprus high season is from May until October, during which the weather favours outside swimming, with the warmest peak summer season being July and August. However, many people also love the luscious green and less busy springtime of March and April and the later balmy autumn in November and early December (both with average temperatures over 20 degrees). As the sea around North Cyprus warms up during the summer, the sea temperature stays warm until October (average 25 degrees) and November (averahttps://northcyprusinternational.com/north-cyprus-2/ge 22 degrees), making sea swimming in North Cyprus often warmer than the pool in the late autumn. The (much needed) rains stop around the end of April and recommence at the end of October, meaning that North Cyprus is beautifully green from November to May – a sight often never seen by the high season tourists. The winter is from mid-December until early March.
North Cyprus Coastal Climate
The coastal climate of North Cyprus is the main reason that tourists and property owners are attracted to it, for different reasons, from both western Europe and the Middle East. The North Cyprus coastal temperatures are usually around 10 degrees hotter than in countries such as the UK (where visitors seek the sun) and approximately 10 degrees cooler than the baking heat of the Gulf and the Middle East (where visitors wish to escape it!) Air conditioning is usually required in both homes and cars from June – September, although homes close to the sea benefit from lovely sea breezes and cooler temperatures than inland. All year residents need heating in their homes in the winter months – with wood burners and electric heating is widely used in January and February.
North Cyprus has a mountain range (Besparmak)– the highest peak being 1024m (3360 feet), and visitors who cross the border to the Troodos mountains in the south of Cyprus can enjoy winter sports/skiing with deep snow usual in February and March at a height of 1952m (6404 feet). The temperatures at the high altitudes are lower with Troodos temperatures falling to well below zero at night during January and February and a maximum of 5-6C in the daytime. Very occasionally there has also been snow in North Cyprus in the winter months.

Which month is best for North Cyprus Property Viewing Trips?
North Cyprus International (NCI) can organise a property viewing trip in every month of the year – to include courtesy airport transfers and accommodation booking service. The off-peak season is cooler and less crowded, which can make it easier for viewing a property – and off-peak discounts can occasionally be had, although you will not see the property in the best weather. Spring and Autumn are ideal months for viewing a property. Summer is fine for viewing in the early morning and later in the afternoon, but we do not recommend combining a family summer holiday with a property viewing trip as the temperatures are too high for children to be outside viewing a property. Contact our UK and Cyprus Staff on +44 207 112 8086 or +90 548 861 0600 for full details of our viewing trips.
